Cigars with bourbon
Bourbon's caramel, vanilla and oak sweetness stands up to medium-to-full cigars, and maduro and sun-grown wrappers echo its sweetness.
Tips
- Match intensity: a high-proof bourbon needs a cigar with enough body.
- Sweet, dark wrappers (maduro, broadleaf, San Andrés) and caramel notes are a classic match.
- A splash of water opens up the bourbon and keeps it from drowning a medium cigar.
